I'm assuming you are on ET (eastern time). The reason why the pair rose was because of a rebound in the equity and commodity markets. I think part of the reason was that the GDP report that came in had no revision, showing that the US economy shrunk by just 1.0% in the 2nd quarter, suggesting that recovery was underway. This in turn, boosted risk appetite, which didnt bode well for the USD.
