I usually work with USD/JPY, AUD/USD, and GBP/USD. I like USD/JPY because it's "faithful" to technical indicators such as chart patterns, support and resistance levels, and candlestick formations. I trade the AUD/USD when there are big moves in commodities or changes in risk sentiment. And I like GBP/USD (or GBP/JPY) because it's a very volatile pair...

My favorite’s pair is EUR/USD, simply because it moves less than 100 pips a day. I think this pair is good for beginners like me.

I like GBP/JPY, because it can move up to 300 pips in just a few hours!

I usually trade GBP/USD and EUR/JPY simply because their average trading range is more than 200 pips. This gives me a lot of room to play around with regards to volatility.I also like to trade EUR/USD. It is the most liquid of all pairs and it retraces a lot. This gives me a lot of opportunity to jump in on the overall trend.

I like to trade the Yen crosses (EUR/JPY, GBP/JPY, AUD/JPY) since I pretty much base my trades on market sentiment. Usually, the pairs rise with risk appetite and fall with risk aversion. The Yen crosses also offer another source of income aside from potential capital gains from the currencies' interest rate differential.
