Why do traders get a representative contact person at every broker site?

Every broker you sign up at someone calls you and tells you that they will be your representative person and if you have any questions you should contact him instead of the broker site.

Why do they do this?

Also curious how many traders a represant has usually?
Just a dozen+ or 100+ or even around 1000 traders he represents?

Like any good business, brokers aim to provide the best service they can possible give. The representative contact person is in charge of your account, so that if you have any questions regarding execution, how to use the platform, fund transfers, etc, you can ask that contact person to assist you. By having a specific representative contact person, that person will know your personal concerns, and could possibly make specific arrangements for your account. This beats having to talk to several different people who might have no idea what you are talking about, which helps saves time and stress.

Of course brokers want to be able to their clients specific needs and having representatives in different regions could help them do that. Also, a particular representative can be assigned to a number of traders depending on how many clients they have in that region. I guess the representative contact person in the us is assigned to more clients compared to representatives elsewhere. Or maybe there are several representative contact persons in the us so that they'd have an equal number of traders to respond to. A dozen sounds too little, maybe a 100 or 1000 would be more cost-efficient for the broker.
