How to use moving averages.

I am trying to dvelop my trading plan, however I am unsure of how to use MA. I always look at the daily chart, then 4 hours and then onto 60 minutes. Are there any recommended parameters for EMA & SMA.Can you use EMA & SMA on the same chart?

One of the most common MA's used is the 200 SMA on the daily. If you don't believe me, plug in the 200 SMA on the daily on the USDJPY... You'll see how it serves as a dynamic support and resistance level. Traders commonly use MA's to gauge the overall trend of a pair.

I guess you can use both the EMA and SMA on the same chart, just make sure you do a few backtests on your system to check its profitability and to be able to make some adjustments. Like Forex Ninja mentioned, you might want to keep track of the 200 SMA on the daily chart since it usually indicates the pair's trend.
